Quantum computing poses a considerable threat to general-purpose cryptography. As many mathematicians, physicists and cryptographers are working hard to develop quantum-resistant cryptography, in many cases relying on post-quantum cryptography with no standard yet on how to safely solve this crisis, there is an urgent need for an open discussion about the risk posed by quantum computing and how it can be mitigated.


Crypto could be the greatest thing to ever happen to online security. Or it could be some niche technology that only the tin-foil-hat crowd will use. Either way, it's hard to ignore the coming paradigm shift. In no time at all we may all be sending our banking passwords encrypted with quantum new algorithms.



Quantum computers are being developed by Google and other organizations. These ultra powerful machines would be able to hack anything that uses cryptography, including Bitcoin wallets. Quantums are already ten million times faster in solving problems than a normal computer. A team of scientists from the University of Bristol and the National University of Singapore has created an algorithm which makes any program secure against quantum computers. It is based on the assumption that checking large numbers is much harder for a quantum computer than for a normal one. So although the main idea behind Bitcoin (blockchain) is to ensure that all users have information about all transactions, we can make it more secure using a blockchain based on new algorithms. The algorithm needs some changes in Bitcoin’s protocol but features like atomic swaps will not have to be discarded.



The crypto-space is a dynamic and exciting one, so it’s essential for designers to keep up with the times and provide interfaces that reflect the nuances of this emerging technology. Applying the right design principles can help your own brand establish itself in a favorable light, but there’s only so much a designer can do. It all comes down to the users: are they ready for all that crypto has to offer? Only time will tell, but at least now we’re starting to see some great designs out there.


Crypto quantum





Once blockchain is commercially adopted, it will become more relevant to the average individual. If you live in a technology driven society, then like myself you will remember when the internet first exploded into our lives about 20 years ago. Blockchain is making the same impact and the repercussions are still unfolding. For the past 5 years, blockchain has been in its infancy stages but has progressed enough to show us its true potential. However, due to it still being in its early phases there is still apprehension on what it is and what to believe in as fact or fiction. This leaves most people asking if they should invest into it and if so how much and which crypto's are worth investing into. As with investing in all things there will always be risk involved, however once any new technology is mastered there are sometimes exponential gains to be made within a short period of time. The world is going digital; this means everything is becoming automated and we are all relying on computers rather than manual efforts of operators. Just ponder for a moment that drugs, money, goods and services are now available without having a physical presence anywhere within the ecosystem (blockchain). The ability to do the right thing is really important. And cryptocurrency is giving us that ability. This is a new paradigm.


BTC will become the crypto investment of the future. It has already gained a lot of traction as a crypto currency but has also been used in ways other currencies have not yet moved towards. There is no general consensus on what crypto is and while this may lead to some confusion and possible disinterest, I believe it’s because there is no one like BTC.


As the crypto market matures, cryptocurrency will enjoy increasingly widespread adoption by individuals and companies of all types. That’s a given. The framework for that adoption is being built as we speak. It’s inevitable—the technology will play a huge role in shaping the future.


Blockchain technology is arguably the most disruptive technological advancement of the last decade. The numerous applications of this revolutionary innovation are still being explored and developed, with further applications being discovered every day.


Certainly we will see the value of bitcoin and some other crypto-currencies decrease over time. The question is by how much, and how fast. And because crypto-currency is relatively new territory for everyone involved, we don’t have a lot of historical data to work off of to decide what the likely outcome is.
